For all of the St. Louis success on the field to end the season, and subsequent moves to prepare this year’s team, there is rarely such a thing as a complete team. While the 2012 club projects to have few definite deficiency that will require much “grining and bearing” to start the season up, there are places the team can definitely upgrade at. This winter GM John Mozeliak has shown an aggressive approach to making sure that a team that lost some substantial contributors is more than equipped to not only compete for the title, but to be in position to defend the their title as well.

The end result of Mo’s efforts is a balanced team that is both flexible in lineup and deep in arms, but where can the club stand to improve? While the shows the potential to produce immediate contributors to the big league club, there are some places that are still better served by making moves at the major league level with competitors. Here’s the top positions that could require in-season deals to better the headed into the season.
